Episode Notes

At 3, Jesse told his parents that he wanted to be a professional athlete. His parents divorced when he was 7, and he became even more focused on academics and athletics during his teenage years. After graduating from Dartmouth College with a degree in Psychology, he was living out his childhood dream as a soccer goalkeeper. In Africa, he took a prescribed medication to prevent malaria, and it built up toxic levels in his system. He was fighting for his life for a year, and it took ten years to recover. During this time, his life was transformed in the deepest ways: identity, faith, mindset, habits, career, and relationships. The greatest blessings and growth in life can emerge from the worst situations. The pain in his journey has fuelled a purpose in his heart to see more people experience an abundant life.

Jesse and his wife faced criticism over their plan to adopt and others tried to talk them out of it.  They took no notice, adopted a son and now have 4 children. He shares what he's learned through the tough times and how his passion and resilience have kept him moving forward and creating a great life for his family.
